A note before the details

After years of building and growing a life together, from our time together at Stanford, to our chapters in Palo Alto, San Carlos, and San Francisco, we are finally getting married. We would be honored to have you celebrate this moment with us.

We are sending this early so the people we love, near and far, have time to make the trip. A formal invitation will follow with every detail. For now, save the date.

Making the trip

Walnut Creek sits in the East Bay at the foot of Mount Diablo, about thirty minutes from both Oakland and San Francisco. Here is everything you need to start planning. Book early; spring and early fall are lovely here, and rooms near the wedding go quickly.

01 Getting here

Three airports serve the area. Oakland is closest and usually the smoothest; San Francisco has the most international service. Drive times below are without traffic, so allow extra during commute hours.

Prefer not to drive? BART, the regional train, runs from both SFO and Oakland to the Walnut Creek station, near the downtown hotels. You will still want a car or rideshare to reach the gardens.

    In the heart of downtown, two blocks from BART, with a complimentary local shuttle. Walk to Broadway Plaza dining and shopping.

    Roomy two-room suites and a full breakfast each morning. Easygoing for families and longer stays, near Pleasant Hill BART.

    Best for families ≈ 12 min to the gardens Visit site

Also reliable nearby: Hilton Garden Inn Walnut Creek, Holiday Inn Express, and Residence Inn for longer stays. Weekend rooms in the area average around $210 a night.

03 While you're here

Downtown Walnut Creek is leafy and walkable, with open-air shopping and good restaurants. Mount Diablo and miles of trails are minutes away, and Napa and Sonoma wine country are about an hour north. San Francisco and Oakland are a short hop by car or train when you want the city.

Our Story

How we got here

  1. Stanford

    Where it began

    We first met on campus at Stanford our junior year. Our first date was making jjajangmyeon, a classic Chinese-Korean noodle dish.

  2. 2018

    Making it official

    We made things official on May 28, 2018.

  3. San Francisco

    Building a life

    We made a life together, living with friends through the pandemic in Palo Alto, then in a peaceful retreat in the hills of San Carlos, then finally in the city, where we are now in a lovely Victorian in the heart of Duboce Triangle.

  4. Around the world

    Always wandering

    With deeply international roots, we have loved traveling the world together, from our families' homes in Korea and Mauritius to some of the most beautiful corners of the world: Iceland, Australia, Japan, New Zealand, and more.

  5. The Dolomites

    A yes in the mountains

    In the picturesque Italian Dolomites, we got engaged after a hike into the meadows.
